This innovative program is designed for front-line workers, social workers, therapists, counsellors and mental health care professionals who would like to learn simple and effective interventions to achieve quicker results with less effort in their respective fields.
It provides participants with a flexible set of clinical tools, including a full range of active and practical strategies. The focus will be on utilizing a variety of body oriented, self-regulation techniques to increase a client’s self-management and improve attention prior to life skill sessions. When working with trauma these are excellent grounding techniques. Used as a group or individual facilitation tools, they assists clients in restoring a feeling of calmness and control, reducing hyperactivity and improving focus. These techniques help clients in moments of anxiety and/or cravings and to reduce triggers and symptoms of depression. This workshop will be focused on practical clinical techniques with lots of opportunities for hands-on practice for skill building purposes.
Learning Outcomes Includes:
Learn simple body-oriented interventions to improve cognitive and emotional processing
Enhance skills in assisting clients to reduce their hyper/hypo arousal so they are more grounded and able to integrate other aspects of treatment
Metacognition
Learn self-regulation techniques to teach clients how to normalize and stabilize arousal patterns by working through the body
The simple 4 minute, 4-step learning readiness protocol to focus and relax
The 5-step balance process that targets and supports achieving any goal
