CTI Canadian Training Institute has received funding from Service Canada under the Youth Employment Strategy Skills Link Program to establish a new Breaking the Cycle: Employment Readiness Internship Program for the period January 4, 2011 to June 27, 2011. This new program builds upon the experience of the CTI Canadian Training Institute’s Breaking the Cycle: Youth Ambassador Leadership Program located within Rexdale and Scarborough.

The purpose of the Youth Ambassador Internship and Employment Preparation Project is to assist 14 youth at risk, out of school, unemployed, ages 16 to 30, who are gang involved or at risk of gang involvement, to leave gang membership and engage in a pro-social lifestyle through employment preparation. This will be achieved by assisting these youths who are not being served by traditional youth employment services to acquire and apply social and labour market knowledge, skills and competencies required to help facilitate this transition to labour markets by participating in actual work experience through a rotating internship program.
